UAE school uniforms for 2026-27 are now available: A parent's guide to prices, outlets and how to buy
With the new academic year approaching, the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) has confirmed that official school uniforms for the 2026-2027 session are now available for public school students, from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. For families of children in government schools, or in private schools that follow the MoE curriculum, this is one of the most practical back-to-school tasks to tick off early, before sizes and popular items start running low closer to September.
Where to buy the uniform
The Ministry has confirmed three main channels for purchasing approved uniforms:
Lulu Hypermarket outlets across the UAE. In previous years this has spanned roughly 48 Lulu branches nationwide, making it by far the most accessible option for most families regardless of emirate.
Lulu's online platform, with home delivery available. Useful for families who want to avoid a hypermarket trip entirely, particularly with multiple children needing different sizes.
Selected government schools directly. In previous cycles this has included specific schools in more remote areas such as Al Sila'a in Al Dhafra, Al Wagan and Al Qua'a in Al Ain, and Dalma Island, ensuring families outside major city centres are not left without a nearby option.
What the official guide covers
The MoE has published a comprehensive guide on its website (www.moe.gov.ae) covering:
- Approved uniform designs for every cycle and educational stage, from Kindergarten through Grade 12
- The full price list for each uniform item
- Exact locations of approved sales outlets
- Purchasing instructions and sizing guidance
- The exchange policy for items that do not fit
- Details of the Ministry's school uniform tailoring service
Practical tips before you buy
The Ministry has issued a few specific pieces of guidance worth following closely:
Verify the price against the official list before paying. Cross-checking against the MoE guide protects against paying more than the approved rate at any given outlet.
Try on sizes in-store before leaving. Given how quickly children grow between academic years, a size that fit at the end of last term may already be tight by September.
Keep your purchase receipt. This is required to exercise the exchange policy if a sizing issue only becomes apparent once your child wears the uniform at home or at school.
Submit tailoring requests early if needed. The Ministry's tailoring service exists for families who need adjustments beyond standard sizing, but requests are best submitted well before the academic year starts rather than in the final week of the summer break, when demand for this service typically peaks.
A quick note on scope
This uniform system applies specifically to public (government) schools and to private schools that follow the MoE curriculum. Private schools following British, American, IB, Indian and other curricula generally set and sell their own uniforms independently through their own suppliers, so this particular guide will not apply if your child attends one of those schools. If you are unsure which category your child's school falls under, the quickest way to check is to ask your school's admissions office directly, or look up your school's profile for curriculum details.
Why this is worth sorting out early
Uniform shopping tends to fall to the bottom of the back-to-school list behind bigger-ticket items like fees, textbooks and school supplies, but it is also one of the tasks most likely to cause last-minute stress if left too late. With a fixed, published price list and a defined set of approved outlets, the process itself is straightforward. The main risk for families is simply leaving it until the final week before term, when popular sizes at any single outlet can run low and tailoring requests take longer to process.
For UAE families with children starting a new grade, a new school, or a new cycle entirely this September, ticking off the uniform early is one small, concrete way to make the final weeks of summer less hectic.
